The Giving Machines will be open to the public from November 28 through December 30, 2023.
Imagine going to a vending machine and instead of buying a drink or a snack, being able to purchase much needed nutritious food, warm clothing, baby supplies or medical aid for local charities, or chickens or a goat for a family in a developing country.
This year, those in the Calgary region and across Alberta will have the chance to do just that. As part of the annual #LightTheWorld campaign, visitors to Southcentre Mall in Calgary can help children and families in need by donating at these unique, red vending machines called Giving Machines. With a simple card tap, individuals can choose from 30 items for seven charities to help those in need both locally and around the world. 100% of the funds for those items goes directly to the charity of your choice.
Charities participating in the Calgary Giving Machines include:
•Calgary Drop-In Centre
•Inn from the Cold
•the Alex
•Brown Bagging for Calgary Kids
•Stephen’s Backpacks
•CARE Canada
•UNICEF Canada
Since 2017, the #LightTheWorld Giving Machines, sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have raised more than $22 million in donations for local and global charities. This year’s efforts will see Giving Machines present at more than 50 locations around the world, including Calgary and Toronto in Canada.
