Lainey Wilson Things A Man Oughta Know #1 on ACC with Kix Brooks

Kix Brooks and ACC are on CISN Country 103.9 Edmonton and Country 105 Calgary Saturday’s 8 am to Noon.

Lainey Wilson Things A Man Oughta Know is #1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, followed by American Country Countdown.

“I have seen everyone from little girls to old men singing the song. So many people are connecting to it, across the board. I’ve heard from guys who gave up and did get it wrong they’re like, I wish I heard your song sooner.”

“I’m honored. I’m humbled. I’m thankful for every small and big step that’s gotten me to this point, as well as my incredible supportive team. I know the hard work is just beginning. Time to roll up my sleeves.”

“I think it’s a great time for female country singers like myself. No matter what the sound is, people want a good story. That’s what country music has been from the beginning. A dang good story.”

Laney Wilson co-wrote Things A Man Oughta Know with Jason Nix and Jonathan Singleton.

“We really spoke about all the things that we thought a man oughta know. The list was way too long so we condensed that list. We discussed my childhood and the things that my parents taught me growing up. This song is really about having good character.”

“I’m just so grateful that my song is given the opportunity to change lives. And it’s crazy how people can latch on to a song, and it can really just set them free in a crazy kind of way.”

It’s from her Redneck Hollywood EP and 2021 LP Sayin’ What I’m Thinkin’.

“It has been an incredible privilege to see firsthand how this song has impacted people. Thank you, country radio for believing in it, sharing it with the world and taking this thing to #1 this is a moment I’ve dreamed of my entire life and to do it with a song that is all about good character is icing on the cake. To my incredibly supportive team thank you for always being by my side. I can’t wait to cry, celebrate and climb more mountains with you.”

The music video was released on April 2, 2021, co-directed by Sean O’Halloran and Chris Ashlee. It was partially shot in Wilson’s own home and filled with personal touches and close friends.

“I hoped that people would connect to this song and it’s been so incredible to see just how strong the reaction has been. For the music video, we wanted to create a piece of art where people could watch it and feel something all over again.”

“At the end of the day, I am blessed since I get to do what I love to do for a living and success means happiness. My goal is to be a light in every single room I walk into and show people love.”

Lainey Wilson and sister Janna go back and forth on a Two Story House.

“We grew up so close. Like the lyrics of the song say, we grew up in the same bedroom looking out the window hanging up clothes on the same line. Everyone has a different story. And yeah, everyone I graduated with is married and has babies. But this is my story. This is my route. And I have a sense of peace that I’m making the right decision.”

In the Grand Ole Opry video, Lainey Wilson talks about her early childhood, passion for music and musical journey.
