Gabby co-wrote The Good Ones with Zach Kale, Emily Landis, and Jim McCormick.
The song was inspired by Barrett’s husband, Cade Foehner and was intended to highlight positive relationships, in contrast to the type of story told in her first #1 song, I Hope.
“The story with The Good Ones is I found myself a good one! People would always come up and ask me Oh, how’s your boyfriend? How’s this one? and I’d be Oh, he’s a good one. He’s a keeper. So, I wanted to write a song, and kind of saying that he’s a good one, and it’s about him.”
The Good Ones is from Gabby’s debut LP Goldmine, released on June 19, 2020, through Warner Music Nashville.
“When it was coming to naming the album, it’s funny cause one of the tracks on the album is called Goldmine and I had thought, Goldmine, hmm. Then, when I started to think about it more, I thought about all the people that worked in goldmines and it’s very hard work. I know it sounds cliché, but I feel like I’ve dug for these songs and struck my own little goldmine.”

“I did not think the past week could have been any more amazing, but to have the #1 song feels like the cherry on top. I’m so grateful for my husband, who truly is a good one and inspired this song. Thank you to my family and fans for supporting me, my label and team for helping take my second single to the top and country radio for playing it. Most importantly, I’m thankful for Our gracious Lord Jesus and how kind He is to me always. It’s more than I deserve.”
