Old Dominion One Man Band #1 on ACC with Kix Brooks

Kix Brooks and American Country Countdown are on CISN Country 103.9 Edmonton and Country 105 Calgary Saturday’s 8am-Noon.

One Man Band from Old Dominion is #1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart followed by ACC.

OD is #2 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

Mathew Ramsey said, “Sure, you can make music alone. But if you find people you have a chemistry with, a whole new world opens up. I think it’s the same with life and love. You can go it alone. But sometimes there is another person out there that adds something to your ‘music’ that you would have never had on your own. That’s the show you want to take on the road. That’s what this song is about.”

Old Dominion’s One Man Band is their 7th Country Airplay #1. 6th in a row and 8th career #1 song. It’s the second single from their self titled third LP that dropped in October.

Mathew Ramsey said, “Sometimes you forget how long you’ve been doing this and then sometimes it feels like you’ve been doing it for your entire life. It’s those moments where you step off the bus in the morning and you see your whole team working hard to make sure you succeed. And then you look at the size of the building that you’re about to go play and just remember playing those little clubs for 10 or 15 people not that long ago. It’s a rewarding feeling to look out and think about how much we’ve grown.”

One Man Band was written by Josh Osborne and OD’s Matthew Ramsey, Trevor Rosen and Brad Tursi.

Matthew Ramsey said, “I got the idea on the bus one night when I heard somebody say one man band. I thought, That’s a cool title. I told Brad, like hey, we should write One Man Band. And he was like, What do you mean? So I said, Like a love song, I don’t want to be a one man band, I don’t want to be alone. We were supposed to be walking onto the stage, our intro music was playing and everything, but we were just huddled around our phones singing I don’t want to be a one man band onto our phones so that we wouldn’t forget it by the time that we were done playing the show.”

Matthew Ramsey said, “We don’t sit down to write an Old Dominion song or a song for anyone else. We’re just trying to write a great song. You can’t help but think about your live show and the body of work you’ve already created to progress to what’s next as a songwriter. What’s next for us is to not hide behind catchiness as much, and not hide behind the hook as much as we had. We allowed ourselves to wear our emotions a little more out in the open and not disguise them in such a catchy little ditty.”

Old Dominion start their We Are Old Dominion Tour January 3rd in Hawaii. The Canadian leg of the tour starts in Abbotsford February 7th with Mitchell Tenpenny and Meghan Patrick.

OD are in Calgary February 14th for some songs and romance.

Matthew Ramsey said, “After the awards show ended we went straight to an after party hosted by our record label, Sony. That’s where our entire team was waiting. All of those people that you don’t have time to thank on stage in that 30 seconds they give you are there and celebrating. Seeing how happy they are really drives home how many people are working so hard to make our dreams come true, so we want to make sure we get the chance to hug them and say thank you to them personally.”
