“God’s Country is a song that has a strong and deep meaningful lyric, but at the same time it leaves it up to the listeners interpretation. But no matter where you are from or where you’re standing it is my belief that you’re standing in God’s Country. It’s really about a state of mind. Wherever you’re from and how you feel about that place. For me, it’s about being from Oklahoma where I was born, raised and still live today.”

Blake is tied with Alan Jackson and George Strait for the third-most #1’s in Country Airplay history. Kenny Chesney leads with 30, Tim McGraw has 29.

God’s Country was written by Devin Dawson, Jordan Schmidt and Hardy.

Devin Dawson said “We wrote it on a Thursday.” “Blake heard it and by Monday he had recorded it.”

“I can’t say enough about the power of this song.” “The first time that I heard God’s Country I knew I wanted to record it, after hearing just one verse and chorus. I feel the song fills a gap not being served musically in country right now. I’m so glad to be a part of it and I’m thrilled the fans are finding the same connect with it that I do.”

God’s Country video was directed by Sophie Muller. Sophie has done several of Gwen Stefani’s videos. It was shot over the course of four days in and around Tishomingo Oklahoma.

“This is such a powerful song and I’m so proud to be a part of it. When I first heard the song I thought it sounded like a remedy. Like a cure. It just sounds like a missing link in country music for the last 10 or 12 years. It feels like a combination of Ole Red and Country Boy Can Survive to me which definitely have a place in country music. Those songs are just rare.”

Blake Shelton’s Smithworks American Made Vodka is now in Alberta. Toast to Blake’s new #1 song.
