Morgan was born in Sneedville Tennessee. His father was a Baptist pastor at Faith Baptist Church in White Pine Tennessee. As a child Wallen took piano and violin lessons. He was offered a scholarship to play baseball in college but after an injury chose to pursue music instead.
In 2014 Morgan competed on season 6 of The Voice. Initially as part of Usher’s team and later Adam Levine’s team. He was eliminated during the Playoffs.
In late 2016 Wallen was signed to Big Loud Records.
Whiskey Glasses was written by Ben Burgess and Kevin Kadish. It’s the third single from Morgan Wallen’s LP If I Know Me.
“Lyrically Whiskey Glasses is a heartbreak song, but I didn’t want it to feel like that so we tried to get clever in the studio.” “I didn’t want it to feel sad so I told producer Joey Moi that I wanted to make the song kind of feel more drunk as it went along. We kept adding little things here and there to make it almost wobble.”
“Never had I dreamed I’d be celebrating a #1 song, so the fact that this is two in a row is mind-blowing to me.” “I’m thankful for everyone who has believed in me since day one: the Lord, my team, my family, my fans and my friends at country radio. This song is a special one and I’m just getting started.”
“My first #1 Hot Country Songs chart happened on my 26th birthday May 13th.” “This is truly a day I’ll never forget.”
Whiskey Glasses ousted Luke Combs’ Beautiful Crazy after 11 weeks atop Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.
Luke Combs is still #1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.
“I think the most important thing is to be yourself, 100 percent to be transparent” Morgan says. “If you’re up there and you’re not comfortable in your own skin, people can tell, and it just creates a weird vibe for everybody involved. So I think you just have to be yourself and bring the energy every night and lay it all on the line that’s all you can do.”
Tickets to Luke Combs Alberta shows are sold out.
The music video for Whiskey Glasses was directed by Justin Clough. It shows Morgan trying to mend his broken heart with drinking after his girlfriend dumps him. Going to a bar with his friends and giving a live performance of his new #1 song.
Captain Morgan making the mullet cool again. Business in the front party in the back.
“I started doing it because I was looking at my mom and dad’s photo album.” “And whenever they got married my dad had a mullet.”
