A Calgary police officer was hurt after responding to a domestic call in the Panorama Hills neighbourhood on Wednesday.

A large police presence could be seen near Panamount Circle N.W. in what officers called an “unfolding incident” throughout the evening.

Officers were called to the 200 block of Panamount Circle N.W. at about 4:30 p.m. to find that a man had barricaded himself inside a home.

After a brief exchange with residents, the Calgary Police Service said “the situation escalated” and officers backed away from the home.

As the situation unfolded, one officer was stabbed in the foot, CPS said. He was taken to hospital with minor injuries and released after receiving treatment.

On Thursday, police said negotiators were brought in to communicate with the man who had barred himself alone in his home and de-escalate the situation.

One man was eventually arrested following the disturbance and police said charges are pending.
