Jimmie Allen Best Shot #1 on ACC with Kix Brooks

A history making #1 for Jimmie Allen. Best Shot hits the top spot on ACC with Kix Brooks. CISN Country 103.9 Edmonton and Country 105 Calgary air American Country Countdown every Saturday morning 8am-Noon.

Jimmie Allen makes country music history by becoming only the second African-American artist to have a #1 with their debut single.

Darius Rucker hit #1 in 2008 with his country debut Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It. Kane Brown, who is black and white, has the top country and pop album this week.

Best Shot was written by Jimmie with Josh London and JP Williams.

I’m humbled and grateful it’s such an honor to get my first #1 and to know that my song is connecting with people and resonating in a way that hopefully makes us all better people in the end, because that’s really what Best Shot is all about.”

It’s the first single from his first LP Mercury Lane which was released Oct 12th 2018.

Mercury Lane was named after the street on which Jimmie grew up in Milton Delaware.

The songs on the LP serve as a letter to his 4-year-old son Aiden to help guide him through life.

Allen plans to celebrate the song’s success by taking some much-needed time off and spend it with Aiden. “This year’s been great, but it’s pulled me away from him so much.” “Nobody call me! I just want to spend two days with my son.”

Allen said he cried when he got the news his song, Best Shot, hit the top spot on Billboard’s country airplay chart, which tracks radio success.

“First I screamed, like, ‘Thank, God. Finally! Finally, man.’ Then after that I’m filled with gratitude and motivated to work even harder,” Allen said.

“I realized just because you get here doesn’t mean you get to stay here, so I just try to wake up and be thankful every day. I’m not going to lie, I broke down and cried for like 20 minutes when I found out my song went #1 because I think about everything I sacrificed.”

Fans will have a chance to see Allen on the road this winter opening for Scotty McCreery on his Seasons Change Tour and playing select dates on Kane Brown’s Live Forever Tour.

The song’s music video was directed by Ford Fairchild. It features Jimmie performing Best Shot on a stool surrounded by pictures of his childhood.
