It's Stampede time once again!!

What's your favorite part of Stampede?  I love the way the energy transforms this city.  Everyone is in the spirit of Stampede.  My co-worker Steph Hansen is so nuts for Stampede, she considers it Christmas in July.  Her favorite part is all the music we get to enjoy during Stampede, especially Nashville North.  Some love the midway, others are obsessed with the Chuckwagons of the Rangeland Derby.  And don't get me started on your favorite watering holes.

What about you?  What do you like about Stampede?

Real Girls Eat Meat
Posted 6/17/2008 12:00:00 AM
Recently, Jessica Simpson has been spotted sporting a T-shirt emblazoned with the slogan "Real Girls Eat Meat" across her chest. And while this could just be an expression of the singer's love for steak, OK! magazine says it's actually a subtle dig at boyfriend Tony Romo's ex-girlfriend, Carrie Underwood -- who not only shuns meat but who has twice been named World's Sexiest Vegetarian by animal rights group Peta. While Carrie hasn't said anything about Jessica's carnivorous tee, the folks at Peta released the following statement: "Jessica Simpson's meaty wardrobe malfunction makes us thankful that no one is looking to her for food advice. Chicken-of-the-Sea anyone? The woman who thought that Buffalo 'Wings' came from buffalos would benefit from some good veggie brain food."
It's not the Hatfields and McCoys, but we could have ourselves an old fashioned, drag 'em out feud here.

In The Groove
Posted 6/9/2008 12:00:00 AM
Last year my father gave us his old turntable and his classical record collection.  My daughter is a musician and she was very interested in this collection.

This past weekend I finally got around to hooking up the turntable and we spent the rainy afternoon listening to classical music.  My 14-year-old son was absolutely fascinated by this music format.  And my daughter is completely thrilled with the music.

Vinyl seems to be making a comeback.  Which is good I guess, since I now have 700 classical records--and my daughter doesn't want to part with any of them.
